The penultimate model of the nano series with ClickWheel.
In comparison with the third and fourth generation, it returned to its original, vertical form.
The iPod additionally gained an accelerometer, slimmer casing and redesigned menu. Often mistaken for the later, fifth generation,
which, using the same body, has been upgraded with a slightly larger display, FM radio and a video camera. Both generations were released in many colors.
The blue unit was my first device from Apple. It served bravely for years, but finally the battery gave up. It sits and looks nicely on the shelf, because when trying to replace the battery, the screen ribbon and the hold switch were damaged.
The black one was bought second-hand, years after its release, and suffered from a swollen battery that pressed the display against the glass. After a successful repair, it works flawlessly. It also exemplifies the engraving capabilities that could have been requested upon purchase. Unfortunately, like a tattoo, this inscription will forever tarnish the back of this iPod.
