The most popular model in the Nintendo DS series.
Improves all the flaws of the predecessor, while having a more attractive, smaller housing.
Very pleasant to use handheld console, with a huge library of games.
This is my third unit. Earlier I had another silver and a black one.
Unfortunately, Lite has two design defects:
The advantage of the entire Nintendo DS platform is the ability to use a flashcart to access dozens of games on a signle microSD card, instead of carrying the cartridges with you. With such a device, you can also run games and programs from independent developers (homebrew).
The most popular options back in the day were R4 (and many its counterfeits such as R4i) and AceKard 2/2i.
The AceKard 2i still lives on in the form of clones, like the Ace3DS Plus and its derivatives, such as the 2022 R4 SDHC. The firmware developed by the AceKard team - AKAIO (AceKard All In One) is often offered on clone cards as a fork called Wood R4. Quite a legacy.
Surprisingly, the apprentice has surpassed the master, and the still-produced counterfeit fakes (the aforementioned 2022 R4 SDHC) are a much better choice than the original AceKard 2i, which in comparison offers inferior game compatibility and longer boot and load times. The only drawback is the problem with individual titles. In case you come across a game that doesn't launch on new cards, it is possible to use TWiLight Menu++.
