In a way, the successor to the successful and well-liked Lumia 920. Like its "predecessor", this smartphone also follows the shape and body style of the N9, albeit with a distinct change on the back of the device.
Parametrically and functionally, the Lumia 1020 is very similar to the 920, although it has an AMOLED-type screen instead of IPS, more RAM and a significantly changed PureView-branded camera, which is a development of the technology from the 808 PureView. Interestingly, both the phone itself and the box prefer to use the name "Nokia 909" or "Nokia Lumia 909", clearly indicating that it was being developed as a successor and heir to the photographic capabilities of the 808.
It is a very solid and pleasant to use device, whose camera many years after its release was compared with what the latest and most expensive models from other manufacturers were to offer, with the Lumia often still winning. However, it still stands out by having a flash next to the standard LED, making the lighting of the photo more like that of proper cameras. Lumia 1020 also allows you to save photos in digital negative format (DNG).
It should be noted, that the protruding camera bump requires getting used to holding the phone in a specific way, which is also felt by the unusual weight distribution.Nokia has also released two overlays for this model. The first allows optional wireless charging (as on the Lumia 720), and the second is a small power bank in the form of a case, which also adds a DSLR-like grip and a tripod mounting socket.
