One of the Lumias sold by Microsoft Mobile under the Nokia brand. The successor to the Lumia 820, which is... slower than its predecessor.
The Lumia 830 was being developed at a time when Nokia's mobile division was becoming Microsoft Mobile. Prototypes of this model had a nameplate with the words "Nokia Corporation" and "Property of Nokia", while the retail version was described as "Microsoft Mobile".
The x3x series of Lumias has changed chip generations and, unlike the x2x series, which uses the Snapdragon S4 Plus, uses newer ones like the Snapdragon 200, 400 and 800. The Lumia 830 has the 400 chip and, despite the higher number of cores compared to the Lumia 820, offers lower performance in many applications. This is especially noticeable in games that use 3D graphics. Technically, the 830 is very similar to the 735, differing only in the display, amount of memory and chassis.
Comparing with its predecessor, the design of the device has also changed, now having an aluminum frame and a thin plastic cover, from which the Nokia logo wore off very quickly. The rear casing itself has also changed the range of available colors, in line with the color palette of the other x3x models.
An additional change is the use of PureView technology, known from models such as the 808 PureView and the Lumia 1020 and 930.
Interestingly, the variant with a gold-colored frame (shown in the photos), sold as a "special edition", does not have the Nokia logo on the front.
This unit comes from the Polish Plus network. It originally had operator's branding in software.
